New Moon

So I just saw New Moon and wanted to share my thoughts on the movie!

But First I have to say
I love the Twilight Series!!!! (don't judge me!)
I also have to say I enjoyed the first movie as well.
Did I think it was the best acting? no
Did I think it was going to win an award for special effects? absolutely NOT!
But I still really liked it and I really really love the books.

Also here is the thing about the twilight movies...
If you have read the books you love the characters and the stories so you really want to see the movie but.... you already know what is going to happen so all the big surprises are kind of ruined. If you haven't read the books you don't have a connection to the characters (because the characters in the movie really hold nothing to the description in the book) but... you can get into the movie and the plot line and be surprised.

So New Moon...

LOVED IT! I thought it was so much better than the first movie. They definitely stepped up the special effects. There is a really awesome scene in the woods with some of the characters running that is probably 1000 times better special effects than the first movie when Edward runs with Bella on his back. The movie stayed fairly true to the story from what I remember but I am getting ready to re-read the book so I might change my mind about that. They really do a good job developing the Jacob/Bella relationship I think.  One thing I really did think they slacked on however was the hair and makeup. All of the wigs and hairstyles were awful compared to the last movie. Jasper's hair was a HOT MESS.

So Judge me if you will friends but I enjoyed it!

Update

Hello all! It has been a while, Ben and I have been very busy with the beginning of the school year and continuing to adjust into adult married life. Somethings that have been happening:

- Ben started his internship at Legacy Middle School teaching the 7th and 8th grade Geometry and Algebra classes. He is now 10 weeks in and he seems to enjoy it. His nights are now filled with paper grading and lesson planning. He is learning that unfortunately he can no longer where khaki shorts and YMCA shirts everyday to work and that sometimes work comes home. But I think he likes it :)

-I have been working as an interpreter at the same school I was at last year and I am now teaching an ASL I class at VCC. I also have been spending many of my nights planning for classes and grading ASL quizzes.

-My sister's wedding is quickly approaching and we have been celebrating! We had an awesome girls weekend in Melbourne Beach including a fair with flannel, dancing with zombies and nerds and tons of fun! Thanks to the wonderful Matron of Honor Erin! We also had her bridal shower with friends and family which was also a big success.

That pretty much catches everyone up to what this Miller family has been up to!

Below is a picture from last nights Halloween party Ben and I were White Trash there was no competition this year but I declared Ben and I 1st place anyways!

Sometimes he answers prayers with…Skittles!

So Ben and I being newly married are far from rolling in the dough if you know what I am saying. We want for nothing and we are very blessed but we definitely do not have tons of money in savings and we are trying very hard not to touch our savings this summer which is becoming more and more difficult as the summer comes to an end and he is the only one receiving a paycheck so needless to say extra unexpected expenses' are not welcome in the Miller household right now with that being said…

This morning while heading out to lunch with my wonderful friends Nancy and Stephanie I get a phone call from Ben saying his car would not start. First thought in my head, “you left the lights on all night again jump it and it will go”. He then tells me it can’t be the battery because the radio is coming on…GREAT!!! So he got a ride to his study session with our friend Rachel and I immediately started discussing with my friends how we are really not in the position to buy a new car right now and I really do not want to have to put any money towards Ben’s ‘94 Ford Taurus that has no AC. STRESSED!

As I got in my car after lunch to run some errands I started to become more stressed and decided I needed some sugar so I pulled out a bag of CRAZY CORE SKITTLES Ben had gotten me for my Birthday. As I open my bag of CRAZY CORE SKITTLES I notice on one corner of the bag it said “1 in every 25 bags is a INSTANT WINNER” one of the summer competitions most candy and soda companies do that I never ever win… so as I open my bag of SKITTLES I pray “God just let Ben and I win that would be amazing, let us win some cash or something to help him and I out with the car situation just please let us win” so I open my bag and I don’t see the typical SORRY TRY AGAIN! that I am expecting I see CONGRATULATIONS! in big print and I am thinking “NO WAY! that is awesome we won something” I continue to read very excited and I read in small print underneath the big Congratulations! “YOU HAVE WON ONE FREE BAG OF SKITTLES”…not exactly the free car I was looking for…

This just goes to show, GOD is always listening and he answers your prayers, just maybe not in the way you think he will :)

BTW We went home and after calling Ben’s mechanic for some advice tried jumping his car, it turned over and started. So God also answers prayers in ways you hope he will! He is a good GOD!

CORALINE’S UGLY TRUTH

So on Friday Jessie, Nick my mother and I went and watched the new movie “THE UGLY TRUTH” with Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. It is about an uptight News producer who is searching for the perfect man and the crazy narcissistic new anchor who helps her get a date with the perfect man. It was VERY predictable but still entertaining. I enjoy Katherine and Gerard and will probably see just about any movie in the theater so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it but it is a typical chick flick so if you enjoy them it is a good choice. FYI kind of vulgar it is rated R but it’s funny.

Then this evening I watched the movie Coraline.  It is an animated movie with a very similar style to Tim Burton’s movies The Nightmare Before Christmas and the Corpse Bride, a little dark but still kid friendly. The animation is so beautiful I really enjoy watching this kind of animation because of the sheer detail, I won’t pretend to know a lot about animation but I really do think this kind is intricate and probably takes a lot of work to produce. The storyline was very cute with a good moral for children (it is rated PG) basically don’t take your parents and life for granted. All in all a very cute movie. I have decided this weeks goal will be to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas and the Corpse Bride again since I have watched both and not really enjoyed them as much as this one so I think I will give them another chance. I do LOVE Tim Burton.

The New Harry Potter

Ben and I saw Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince yesterday with some friends and I enjoyed it. Many people I have spoke with have been disappointed by the new movie in the series but I thought it was well done and is starting to get a little darker than the previous films which I like. Now I will say I have yet to read all the books, I am about to finish the first one, so I know that may be a factor.

One thing I did notice about the movie which is common in a series  is that the ending was some what lacking because there is no conclusion, obviously. The other 5 movies were the same but because Ben and I watched them all back to back we got to see the continuation of the story immediately after finishing the previous one. Now we will have to wait another year and then another year again, SO FRUSTRATING. I will say that because Ben and I were able to watch the first 5 in order over the past week before going to see the 6th I really did enjoy the character development. Especially in the main characters Harry, Hermione and Ron. In the first few movies Ron, especially kind of annoyed me but now I really love the characters and I like that there are little love stories in the school and teenage angst if you will. I also like that we are able to see the characters really grow up on screen after watching the Sorcerer’s Stone and then the Half Blood Prince it is amazing to me how much older they are! My favorite character by far is Neville, poor Neville things never go his way, I really liked him in the 5th movie his part was much smaller in the newest one but he is still my favorite in the movies him and Hagrid. Well not much of a review as much as just an opinion!
